Sammamish

A simple rambler was transformed into this exciting design by using large beams to continue from the old roof pitch out over the addition and deck. A varied use of patterns, wood and natural colors gives the outside an interesting look and allows it to better fit with its surroundings. The immense overhang on the deck allows light into the home and adds drama to the exterior.

Carnation

This old farmhouse overlooks the Snoqualmie Valley and was in need of some repairs and expansion to accommodate a busy family. The design for this master bedroom and bathroom addition stayed true to the era in which the home was originally built. The windows, siding and siding trim match the existing home. The dilemma was to create the floor space needed while staying with the steeper gable roof pitches. To do this, large dormers were used on either side of the gable to flatten the interior ceiling. Double hung windows on both dormers allowed for natural light on the inside and enhanced the exterior look.

Queen Anne - Second Story

A second story was added to this 1920’s home to accommodate a growing family while at the same time returning some of its original charm that had been covered over by an earlier remodel. The added 900 square foot second story mirrored the first story and included two bedrooms, a master bedroom/bathroom and a bath. The trusses on the 2nd story were left exposed which added a unique drama and a feeling of openness to the upstairs. Some new trims were added and all the trim painted white to lighten the house up and add a craftsman charm. On the exterior, the old siding was removed or sided over to bring back the original look and let the house fit in better with the neighborhood.

Maple Valley - Family Room

A spacious family room was added on to an existing family room and the existing room turned into a dining room. The stepped down rooms gives them a feel of separation from the kitchen, yet the matching of the hardwoods, woodwork and design let the rooms flow together. The warm fireplaces with the old world stone look give the rooms a focal point and draw you to them. The doors along the back wall of the family room open out onto the private backyard.

Sammamish - Loft

The large beams extending along the existing roof line allowed for the addition of a loft over the added kitchen. Numerous doors and windows were added to capture the natural light. The new living room and dining room flow to a spacious and elegant kitchen. The upstairs loft with its windows that look out on the woods is a cozy spot to sit and enjoy a good book or just relax.

Bellevue - Room Addition

This small room received a small addition that made an enormous change. The rooms before had flat dark stained cabinets on either side of a painted over brick fireplace. The new picture shows an attractive, comfortable room that ties into the kitchen and makes both rooms a great living place. On the left of the picture, the wall was bumped out two feet and windows added to capture a view and bring in light. Cabinets were added below the window to create both extra seating and storage. Handsome cabinets were added to both sides of the fireplace which was re-surfaced in sheetrock and marble and capped with a mantle to create a beautiful focal point for the room. New recess can lights were added to highlight the bookcases and fireplace, and the floors re-done in oak hardwood to add elegance and warmth to the whole room.
